Wednesday 4-24-08.
Haley is at Children's hospital in Fresno. She is under going tests to determine the
reasons why her heart is failing, and what type of surgery will best fix the problems.
Friday 4-25-08.
Haley had surgery on Thursday for a diagnosis of what is going on with her heart.
It was found that she needs to have her Glenn shunt removed and her heart re- routed. Due to the failing heart, she has high blood pressure which is causing swelling on the left optic nerve.
It was hoped that the surgery could wait until summer, but with the eye problem the surgery will have to be done sooner. She will be having a MRI next week and a 3d CT heart scan at Stanford before the surgery.
Haley is having a hard time emotionally has been in a lot of pain. She has been asking for her brother and really wants her whole family together during rough time. Bryan will be going to Fresno on Saturday to be with her. This will make her feel better.
Sunday 4-27-08.
Haley had to go back to the hospital due to a severe headache.
The high pressures from her heart are causing the headaches. She will have a MRI on Monday and the doctors will decide what to do at that time.
Wednesday 4-30-08.
Today is Haley's Birthday, she is 11. The nurses bought her a cake and presents and had a party for her.
The doctors determined that surgery had to be done soon. More info will be posted when the plans have been made.
Friday 5-2-08
Haley got out of the Hospital and prepared to come home to Los Osos. She had a spinal tap which gave her excruciating headaches unless she stayed laying down. Bonnie and Rick started home and then had to turn around and go back. Haley and Bonnie stayed in
Fresno, and Rick and Bryan came home.
Monday 5-5-08
Haley is doing better today. Her headaches have gone down quite a bit.
Wednesday 5-13-08
Haley has a surgery date. It is Monday June 2. The Glenn shunt is going to be removed and the artery reconnected to the heart. Her surgery will take about 10 hours.
Haley and Bonnie will not be able to attend the benefit. At this time we are hoping her dad Rick will be able to be there.

Just got word from Bonnie that Haley is out of surgery. She was in there for 12 hrs and has 3
+chest tubes, needed 3 transfusions and it was much more than they thought. Things did go well and she is
+stable for now. Bonnie & Rick will see her very soon in the ICU. This is a very critical time in the next 72
+hrs as so many hurdles they still need to get through. There was alot of extra bleeding and there are still
+trying to control it. They need your prayers as Haley is NOT out of the woods yet. Please pray for peace for
+this family they certainly need it. I will keep you updated as I know more.
Thank you for all your prayers.........Dana

Bonnie just called at 8am this morning and said Haley had an "uneventful" night in ICU
+which is wonderful. She was trying to wake this morning and wants her ventilator tube out (but she can't) and
+was getting mad. They had to sedate her more as she was getting restless and they need her very still. She is
+doing rather well.. Thanks for your prayers.....Dana
Wednesday 6-4-08
Bonnie called this am and said Haley had a really rough day yesterday. She had mucus in her lungs and had problems breathing even with the breathing tube. She felt like she could not catch her breath and struggled for quite a while before they got it under control.
She has to cough so as to get the mucus up, and of course this is painful.
They are still watching for possible bleeding.
Haley had a rough day yesterday as some of her tubing got clogged and it got alittle scarry in ICU. THey did get the breathing tube un-plugged and they did completely remove the tube for now. She is breathing on her own and stable. She has been experiencing alot of pain but that was to be expected, and they are making her as comfortable as possible. She is still criticial but in stable condition in the ICU at Childremn's Hosp. in Fresno. Bonnie & Rick were pretty shooken up and emotionally drained through this turn of events. Please continue to pray for complete healing of Haley and for Peace and comfort for The Collins family.....Thank you, Dana

Haley had a better day today (Wednesday). She is still in pain with the chest tubes, but she is breathing better. Her pacemaker was removed, and her heart is doing well on its own.
Thursday 6-7-08
Haley has fluid/mucus on her lungs from being down so many hours in surgery. They are trying to get her to move around to get it to come up. She is in pain and still on morphine.
Friday 6-6-08
Haley is no better this am. She is still struggling. Bonnie is going to try to go to Ed's funeral today, and then get right back.
Ed was Haley's grandfather who died a couple of days before her surgery. He died from complications from his second open heart surgery.
Saturday 6-7-08
Haley's lungs are doing better. Her oxygen level is now stable, and her blood pressure is great. She had a painful night. She was behind on her pain meds and when the pain kicked in, they had a hard time getting her back to a comfortable state. She started out with five IVs and is now down to four.
Yesterday she asked what day it was and when Bonnie said Friday, she said something about having to have surgery this coming Monday. Bonnie told her she had already had surgery, and Haley was surprised. Hopefully this means she won't remember the pain.
Sunday 6-8-08

Haley is doing really good. Nancy and I went up to Fresno over the weekend and spent some time with Rick Bon
nie and Haley. We played a card game with her and got to see all of her coins and medal that she got for Brave
ry from the National Guard. She seems to be back to her old self almost. I think she is still having some pai
n and head aches. All in all I'd say she is doing amazingly well.
